Costume Make-Up Ideas on a Budget
While some people like planning their costumes weeks, even months in advance, many of us are too busy not being geeks to afford that kind of preparation for a fancy dress party and have to rustle up our outfits at the last minute. Knocking something together on a budget is also difficult as nobody wants to be the pooper who goes to the party dressed in their normal clothes. You don’t necessarily need a big costume, as the right bit of make-up can turn your ordinary clothes into the costume itself. Get hold of some cheap theatrical make-up and make your face the center point of your outfit.
One of the easiest and cheap costume idea's is to dig out your black clothes and become a gothic ghoul by whitening your face and blackening your eyes. An awesome touch is painting over your whitened lips with black make-up for an eerie skull effect. If you don’t have any whitening make-up then simply blacken your top lip and the tip of your nose to create a cat face.
Paint a few dots on your cheeks for whiskers.. You can always add some Cat Eyes Contact Lenses to take the look to the next level.
If you’ve got hold of some theatrical make up you might want to get creative and become a Frankenstein’s Monster by turning your face a light green color and then darkening your eyes and adding a splash of blood here and there.
Use an eyeliner pencil to add some fake stitches across your forehead and then finish the look off by making a pair of neck bolts out of wine bottle corks. There are plenty of Frankenstein Contact Lens options as well if you want to push the boat out.
Of course, some of us have neither the time nor the budget to spend on anything, and quite likely need to rustle up a costume with just a few minutes until the party starts. In that case, one of the best options is to become a joker with the simple addition of two lines drawn down from the corners of your mouth.
There are lots of ways of enhancing the look (I recommend some rosy cheeks, a bow tie and some Doll Eye Lenses but it really is as simple as drawing a couple of lines on your face.
